Domaine Camp-Atthalin

Based in Savigny Les Beaune for 13th generations, the Domaine is now at the helm of brothers Jean-Philippe and Jean-Edouard Camp. Since 2017 the brothers cultivate almost 7ha of vineyards, exclusively in the village of Savigny, gaining organic and biodynamic certification in 2020. Each 11 different plots are individually vinified in Micro cuvees totalling no more than 6,500 bottles.

The Domaine’s ethos is to preserve and respect the soil, the plants and the people who work the land. The pair focus on minimising their carbon footprint by not using heavy machinery, no ploughing, just gentle aeration of the soil. The youngest vines are 30 years old with the average age between 45-50 years old. One particular thing to note about the wines is that the whites are 50% Pinot Blanc and 50% Chardonnay, which makes them more lifted without losing their Burgundian Identity.

It’s all about the attention to detail, this flows from the vineyard into the cellars which are underground in the centre of the village. Jean Philippe promotes all things natural, avoiding extraction and maturation takes place in old demi muids.

This new Domaine is flying under the radar, for now! Which is a rare thing in Burgundy, mostly reflecting Jean Philippe Camp’s quiet and determined attitude. We’re extremely excited and proud to represent Domaine Camp-Atthalin in the UK.

The Wines

Domaine Camp-Atthalin, Savigny Les Beaune Blanc 'Dessus de Vermots' 2023
£52.00

From a high-elevation parcel on the northern slope of Savigny-lès-Beaune, ‘Dessus de Vermots’ 2022 delivers a luminous and textured expression of 50% Chardonnay & 50% Pinot Blanc. The site’s stony, marl-limestone soils and east-facing exposure lend precision and drive to a wine that reflects both terroir and thoughtful élevage.

The nose is subtly expressive, with aromas of white peach, pear skin, and lemon zest layered over delicate notes of hazelnut, acacia, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is lithe and mineral, with a fine thread of acidity carrying citrus and orchard fruit through to a clean, persistent finish. A whisper of oak adds texture without intrusion, allowing the wine’s natural energy and saline edge to shine.

Domaine Camp-Atthalin, Savigny Les Beaune Rouge 1er Cru 'Les Peuillets' 2023
£65.00

From one of Savigny’s most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards, ‘Les Peuillets’ 2022 is a finely-etched Pinot Noir that balances ripe vintage character with site-driven elegance. The vineyard, located on deeper soils with good drainage and a southeast-facing slope, consistently yields wines with both depth and aromatic lift.

The nose opens with pure notes of red cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate, wrapped in hints of rose petal, baking spice, and a faint trace of forest earth. The palate is medium-bodied and precise, with silky tannins, juicy red fruit, and a supple mineral core. Elegant oak integration adds gentle structure and polish, while maintaining the wine’s freshness and finesse. The finish is long and refined, echoing with red fruit and spice.

Domaine Camp-Atthalin, Hautes Cotes de Beaune Rouge 'Le Mont Battois' 2022
£37.00

In the warm 2022 vintage, the elevation and cool breezes of the Hautes-Côtes were key to preserving elegance and tension.

On the nose, it offers lifted aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, and rose petal, with underlying notes of forest floor, white pepper, and a touch of crushed herbs. The palate is lithe and supple, with a juicy core of red berries, lively acidity, and a subtle mineral edge. Gentle oak aging adds structure and finesse without overshadowing the wine’s transparency and charm.

Domaine Camp-Atthalin, Savigny Les Beaune Rouge 'Les Petits Picotins' 2023
£54.00

17.5/20

‘There is something Banksy about this utterly beguiling Savigny. Like walking around a corner on an ordinary street on an ordinary day expecting the usual things and then, there it is! A picture that changes the beat, changes your perception, makes you stop and look more closely. Just like this wine. Every line of it is striking, different, magnetic. Kohl and graphite outline wild (intensely sweet) strawberries. Nested between fruit and dark minerals are earth-drawn notes of nettle tea, crushed chestnuts, sorrel underfoot when you're walking through a woodland, bracken. I've never tasted a Savigny-lès-Beaune quite like it. (And, for what it's worth, when you take a sip and wait, breathe, it's like drinking peppermint tea ... the finish is extraordinarily cool and fresh.) This wine makes me want to go dancing under street lamps.’ Drink 2024-2034 (Tamlyn Currin of Jancisrobinson.com)
